How Nuno Started
The idea for Nuno had a bit of a funny start: it began in a traffic jam in Pennsylvania. The backup was so bad that our founder pulled off the road, grabbed an appetizer at a pub, and waited out the gridlock. Sitting in the lounge, he struck up a great conversation with someone he had just met.
They were heading east while he was heading west to try different routes around the traffic, and he wanted to reconnect afterward to compare notes on who "won" the detour. But that was the moment he realized exchanging phone numbers felt like too much for a conversation that started by chance. That simple friction became the spark for Nuno: a better way to keep conversations going without exchanging personal contact details.
That moment shaped the vision for Nuno: a messaging app that helps people connect in the moment without the friction of sharing personal identifiers. We believe staying in touch should feel easy, respectful, and private.
Today, Nuno is being built to solve this exact problem—providing a modern, private, and simple way for people to message each other without the need for usernames, phone numbers, or permanent identifiers. Every conversation is fresh, secure, and designed with privacy at its core.
